The Ring Nebula M 57 in Lyra. Astronudes intends to be a holistic project uniting the beauty of the Universe, our Earth and mankind, uniting Art and Science. Therefore we chose the Ring Nebula to be our logo representing the ring as symbol for wholeness and completeness. Astro photo taken with Celestron C 14 and Canon near Vienna, Austria. Thats Astronudes, an Art and Science Project. C14 astrophoto
Whirlpool Galaxy M51. Astro photo composite taken with Celestron C14 using SBIG 2000 xt CCD Camera Astrophoto C14.
Sometimes you need a big heart and a sharp sword, however, especially when shooting samll planetary nebulae like the little Dumbbell nebula M 27. Sunflower Galaxy M 63, taken with Celestron C 14. Astronudes, a science and art project. C14 astrophoto
North America, Pelican, Gamma Cygni Crescent and Veil Nebulae in Cygnus taken with a simple Canon 24-105 mm L lens on Embergaer Alm, Carinthia. Even a very modest sword turns into a powerful tool at the right location.
"Red Supergiant Star Antares shines at Model in Red ". Astronude taken from a hill over Bodrum, Turkey with Antares in Scorpio. Antares is the grightest star the elbows of the model are pointed at. The light of Antares had to travel 553 years to reach the model! Thats Astronudes, an Art and Science Project
"Beauty and the Pipe." Astronude taken at the Southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey; The model looks at the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way in direction to the Pipe nebula and the Antares/Rho Ophiuchí region. The Lagoon nebula is located 4500 lightyears behind the model's eye. Thats Astronudes, an Art and Science Project
The Summer Milky Way over the alps taken at Emberger Alm, Carinthia, Austria, shortly before dawn. Isn't this amazing even without female beauty? Thats Astronudes too an Art and Science Project
Leo Triplet, a galaxy cluster consisting of M65, M66 and NGC 3628, all about 35-40 Mio lightyears away and 90,000 to 170.000 lightyears diameter. In the bottom left you can recognize a very small galaxy, IC 2745 estimated distance 145 mega parsec, i.e. about half a billion lightyears away!!! Astro photo taken with 8 inch f4 Newton at Emberger Alm, Carinthia, Austria. Also the beautiful Nightsky without terrestrial foreground is amazing and looking out half a billion lightyears really let's your heart beat faster!! That's Astronudes too, an Art and Science project
Cocoon Galaxies in constellation Canes Venatici distance 50mio LY. The two galaxies are now 25.000LY away from each other. They had ocollided in the past. Astro photo taken with Celestron C14 and focal reducer at F2500mm and f7. Luminance Canon EOS 450d monochrome and SBIG 2000xm: RGB: Canon 'EOS 40d modified and SBIG 2000xm: See section galaxies for further details
Not the sword wins the battle but the heart of the warrior! Even a small instrument Travelling with an enthusiast to a pristine site sometimes can beat a big telescope! Look at this Astro photo of Orion, Running man and Horsehead nebulae taken with a simple Canon 200mm L tele lens and 1,4 tele converter on Astrotrac mount only, in Borego Desert State Park, California That's Astronudes too, an Art and Science project fueled by Enthusiasts with a heart wide open for experiencing Art and Science, wherever they are and whatever instruments they have available. Astro photos taken using a wide variety of telescopes, lenses and mounts are also aimed to show the different results of using a variety of scopes and mounts.
Orion Nebula M42 taken with Celestron C14 and SBIG 2000 xm the big sword. See the blue oxygen and red hydrogen clouds, nature can be so beautiful!
The big brother of the above shown little Dumbbell nebula is the Dumbbell Nebula M 27. Astro photo composite of exposures made with Celestron C 14 and Meade 10 inch SC.
New Travel Equipment! Astrophoto taken with Atik Infinity CCD Camera and Canon 2,8 200mm telelens on Skywatcher Alt Az Mini mount on Hohe Dirn, Upper Austria 100x5sec, North America Nebula NGC 7000

The concept of Astronudes

Astronudes is all about beauty art and science

I have been doing Photography and Astronomy and Travelling for over 30 years

I am so enchanted by the beauty of the night skies in all parts of the world

I can hang out for many hours at night to admire photograph and observe the beauty of the skies as well as I admire stunning landscapes and beautiful bodies....

when admiring the beauty of the night skies, however ,it makes a difference from where on this beautiful planet you do it; a  remote desert, a beautiful sea shore, an alpine environment...

our beautiful mother planet Earth is unique in the endless Deepness of the universe, the more you feel and observe the Universe, the more you love our home planet Earth too

the combination of great landscapes of our beautiful home planet with the enchanting universe really makes your heart jump and sets free the artist and scientist who is embedded  in every human being

however, maybe the most important element is still missing in many Astro photos -mankind- our species-unique and The crown of God's creation-preferentially represented by the beautiful sex the female. What can be more enchanting your senses than the combination of all these three  gifts of god: beautiful sky beautiful landscapes and elements of our planet Earth  and beautiful females

this Website also wants to encourage the idea that appealing Astro photographies can be achieved  by using many different kinds of instruments, sometimes a small instrument used at  a remote location by an enthusiast delivers better results than the most expensive equipment.

this page is structured into three categoriea

Beauties of the sky

Beauties of Earth and Sky

Beauties, Earth and Sky

in addition Astronudes shares its own experiences with and offers a platform for Astronomer friendly hotels and locations.

finally we offer an Astronuders blog to discuss science and art topics

Enjoy Beauty Art and Science.

I recently tested a 6 inch f4 Photo Newton on an Astrotrac mount and Manfrotto carbon tripod on the island of Fuerteventura, Spain. I could do up to 180 seconds exposures which was sufficient for this fast Newton to get great astro photos of Centaurus A gx, M 83 and Omega Centauri(see below). This is an extremely light and powerful travel set up weighting only 8 kg in total.

I recently tested a 6 inch f4 Photo Newton on an Astrotrac mount and Manfrotto carbon tripod on the island of Fuerteventura, Spain. I could do up to 180 seconds exposures which was sufficient for this fast Newton to get great astro photos of M83 gx and Centaurus A gx and gc Omega Centauri(see below). Balance is crucial for this set up. Look how I modified the Astrotrac using a dovetail bar to  achieve initial balance. In addition I turned the scope for every photo in such a way that the focuser and camera outbalance the weight of the tube.
